*INSIGHTS
Born 1963 Chadron Nebraska, the Sioux Indian Lands, born to a Nebraskan farm girl & a Kansas city Missouri, Zoot Sooter- Navy pilot & officer, 2 war veteran, ww2 & Korea.
~1967/68~ Begins really noticing, & liking tattoos, begins drawing on himself & his toddler brother.
~70/76~ Paid $5-$10, entertaining at neighborhood birthday parties, drawing tattoos on the guests, passing moments for most, great moments for Clark.
~77/82~ Favorite Themes Are…  Skulls, Heritage, Daggers, Barbed Wire, Zodiac, ZigZag Man, Keep on Truckin, Pegasus, Unicorns & Rainbows.
Clark started tattooing himself and friends in high school “discretely & illegitimately” because he was a teenager, but also because back then tattooing was avidly looked on as a bad thing (almost criminal). he lost several friends over this thing he liked, forcing him to keep it, and other things like it, secret from most.  In the late 1970′s & early 1980’s he was helped out to “tattoo better” by his tattoo friends, Mike Brown, Cliff Raven & Mark Mahoney…he would bring his tattooed friends to the shops that they were at, to get advice on what he was doing on them, and he would get tattooed, always sure to watch & learn.
~83/90~ Favorite Themes Are…  All of his previous favorites, Patrick Nagel Girls, Olivia Girls, Varga Girls, Band Logos, Wizards & Vikings, Abstract Faces & Bodies, Boris Vallejo, Lettering & Celtic. The normal tattoo style from Clarks youth is starting to be called “Old Style, Old School & Traditional American” yet this will always be a favorite theme for him.  Since it was it was very difficult for him to get color tattoo ink everything up to this point Clark did in black and grey, except the rainbows & blood drops.
~90/99~ Favorite Themes Are… All of his previous favorites, American Indian, Portraiture, Anything realistic, Medieval Dragons, Eastern Dragon, Koi & he begins to really study irezumi.  During this time the public does not really like anything “Traditional”, the public favorites, at this point in time, are fruit & vegetable, biomechanical and tribal.  Clark still likes the older styles best, but must adjust to the 90′s style in order to pay the bills.
~00/04~ Favorite Themes Are… Now taking on a much more Intense study of irezumi themes and Ukiyo-e, some of his previous favorites are now becoming much too dated in the public eye to continue as favorites.
~04/Now~ Favorite Themes are… Mainly focusing in “one direction” & it is “Traditional” which encircles Irezumi & Americana.
